Warranty terms must be job-specific
The warranty that applies to a completed repair depends on the work performed, the component installed, the supplier terms and the condition of the appliance. The invoice or job card should state the applicable period and exclusions.
Typical exclusions
- Unrelated faults developing after the repair
- Misuse, overloading or failure to follow operating instructions
- Power surges, water damage or external plumbing/electrical problems
- Customer-supplied or second-hand parts
- Work altered by another person after completion
Keep your documents
Retain the invoice, job number and component details. Report a suspected repeat fault promptly with a video or photograph where possible.
